Mixing and Mastering

Mix and Master of Falling Down the Same Hole by Bradd Edwards (released 2025). This is a spooky, ambient industrial track with many layers of industrial noises (2:48 – 3:24 to hear these featured). With multiple layers of shrill industrial noises and wubby bass sounds, the risk was that they might conflict with each other and begin to sound “muddy” or indescernable from each other. For this song, I aimed give each industrial sound it’s moment to shine, without overtaking the vocals. This mix was a fun puzzle of how to strike the balance between heavy reverb (typical to this genre) and clarity.

Mix and Master of EP Autistic Meltdown // Natural Disaster by me (released 2024). This is the song Uncanny Valley from that album. This song features vocals, a grand piano, synths, synth bass, and vaguely industrial sounding electronic drums. This vocal performance flips a lot between a pushed chest voice and a breathy upper range. For the mix and master, I focused on making the vocals seem cohesive without losing the stylistic performance choices made while tracking.

Burlesque and Drag Performance Tracks

Umbra – I wanna be fckd by you Act

A fun edit of Marilyn Monroe’s ‘I Wanna Be Loved by You’ and Kim Petras ‘XXX’. This track gets interesting from 0:48 when we started replacing the word “loved” with a moan from ‘XXX’ and then transition between the tracks. As a fun easter egg for Umbra, I added miscellaneous technology noises (printer, a phone dial tone, dial up internet, heart rate monitor) during the transition.

Adelaide Everhart – Cicada Act

Adelaide asked me to create something for her Cicada act and wasn’t too sure about what she wanted other than the Song A Certain Shade of Green by Incubus and cicada noises. I suggested opening the song with the song Buried by Unsecret with some David Attenborough quotes about cicadas over it. At the very end you will hear cicada noises build to a cacophony. This was for a very serious act with incredible costuming for a large gala event, so it was very important to make the audio equally as impressive as the rest of the elements.

James Bonk – Waluigi WAH-manizer Act

James Bonk came to me with the idea of doing Womanizer by Britney Spears, but as Waluigi (from SuperMario). For this campy and silly drag number, it required very precise audio cutting in order to perfectly replace the “Wo” in the word “Womanizer” with Waluigi’s signature “WAH” noise. You may notice that the “WAH”s happen increasingly more and more throughout the song. I also added in a few other Waluigi quotes and laughs to add a few more moments for lip synching silliness.

Sound Design

Sound Design for Reclamation of Terra art gallery installation by Teague Leigh at Victorian Arts Society (2024). The brief for this was ambient soundscape incorporating city and natural sounds with some gentle synths. I captured most of the sounds and the artist Teague also sent me a few audio clips taken from his phone to incorporate.

Sound design for a game prototype Emotional Sleuth by Clair Ross for Vancouver Game Jam (2022). The brief for this was moody, retro-sounding and able to loop infinitely.

Classical Compositions

Composition of SATB choral work titled Data Collection: Gumtrees. This was commissioned for Divisi Chamber Choir through the Tempo Rubato Queer Composer Residency (2023). This piece is meant to be a fantastical envisioning of androids learning about gumtrees, as an allegory for autistic and neurodivergent ways of learning. The tone of the piece is hopeful, joyful, and evoking wonder. My favourite moments are from 2:45 onwards. This recording was not done by me.

Composition of a SSATBB Choral work for Vandecca Chamber Choir in Vancouver called East Vancouver Bus Ride (2022). This piece lists East Vancouver streets in geographic order, as if you are sitting on a bus and watching streets pass. It also lists mountains (in view from East Vancouver on a clear day) as if seeing them from the bus. It’s meant to elevate the very mundane task of wayfinding, and the tone of the piece is largely meditative. This recording was not done by me.
